(2) Core Elements
The usage of BrightSign’s products can be broken down into the following core elements:
Player Configuration (Provisioning) - setting up players for use
Publishing Mode - the method of publishing/delivering content to players
Authoring - creating/authoring content for players to display
Player Management - managing/monitoring players on an ongoing basis
Player Configuration (Provisioning)
The process of setting up a player for use is known as player configuration. When BSN.cloud, BrightSign’s cloud platform, is used to configure a player, the process is referred to as player provisioning or simply, provisioning.
Since the vast majority of users use BSN.cloud to configure players, the term provisioning is often used to refer to player configuration. Scenarios with which players are configured without BSN.cloud are relatively uncommon.
Provisioning can be done with both BrightAuthor:connected as well as a web browser.
Publishing Mode
A critical part of player configuration involves setting the player’s Publishing Mode which dictates how content will be delivered to players. More details about these modes will be covered on the next page.
Authoring
Generally speaking, there are two approaches for authoring player content:
BrightSign Presentations
Presentations that enable users to take full advantage of our players' capabilities can be created with BrightAuthor:connected or via a web browser at bsn.cloud.
Web-Based Presentations
Thanks to the Chromium engine that comes with every player, players are capable of displaying standards-compliant web pages. Common web technologies (i.e., HTML, JavaScript, etc.) can thus be used to create presentations for players to display.
Player Management
In addition to player provisioning, BSN.cloud also offers a rich set of tools to manage players on an ongoing basis such as the ability to monitor player status/activity/health, troubleshoot issues, etc. These tools can be accessed via BrightAuthor:connected or via a web browser.
