Note that BrightWall presentations and standard presentations cannot be placed on the same schedule.
Adding BrightWall Presentations to Your Schedule
Follow these steps to add BrightWall presentations to the player schedule:
- Select a BrightWall presentation from the list in the Presentations section.
- Drag the BrightWall presentation to a time slot during which you want it to play.
- Click and drag the selection handles to adjust playing time within one day.
If you want the BrightWall presentation to be a recurring event, double-click the presentation timeframe in the calendar. In the Schedule Presentation window, set the following parameters:
- Presentation: Specify which BrightWall presentation you want to use in this schedule block.
- Active all day, every day: Check this box if you want the BrightWall presentation to play at all times (i.e. without day parting).
- Event time: Specify a timeframe during the day when you want the BrightWall presentation to play:
- Start: Use the dropdown list to select a time when the BrightWall presentation should begin
- End: Use the dropdown list to select a time when the BrightWall presentation should end.
- Recurring Event: Check this box to have the BrightWall presentation recur during specified days. If you don't check this box, the Event time will only apply to the single day selected in the schedule.
- Recurring pattern: Specify the frequency of the recurrence.
- Daily: Specify Every day, Every weekday, or Every weekend for playback.
- Weekly: Check the boxes corresponding to the individual days of the week when you want the BrightWall presentation to play.
- Recurring pattern: Specify the frequency of the recurrence.
- Range of recurrence: Use this option to limit the recurrence of the scheduled presentation.
- Start: Specify the start date of the scheduled recurrence. This date defaults to the currently selected date in the schedule.
- End: Select No end to have the presentation recur indefinitely, or select End by and specify the end date of the scheduled recurrence.
- Range of recurrence: Use this option to limit the recurrence of the scheduled presentation.
Schedule Interrupts
You can create a day-parted schedule by scheduling BrightWall presentations in separate time slots of a single day (or a set of recurring days). Later on, you may need to schedule a new BrightWall presentation in an occupied time slot. This is where schedule interrupts are useful.
If you would like to interrupt a scheduled BrightWall presentation with another presentation, drag and drop the new BrightWall presentation into an occupied time slot (you can also schedule an overlap in the Schedule Presentation window). A Schedule Conflict window will appear, providing the following options:
- Keep existing events, cancel new event: Cancels the new schedule presentation action.
- Keep existing events, adjust new event: Opens the Schedule Presentation window, allowing you to schedule the new BrightWall presentation in an empty time slot. If you schedule the BrightWall presentation in an occupied time slot, the Schedule Conflict window will appear again.
- Remove existing events, use new event: Completely removes the BrightWall presentation currently occupying the time slot.
- Interrupt existing events with new event: Schedules an interrupt in the BrightWall presentation currently occupying the time slot. The date field will be split into two columns: The left column shows the primary scheduled presentation in blue; the right column shows the interrupting presentation in green. Primary scheduled presentations can be interrupted with multiple presentations, but interrupting presentations cannot overlap with each other.
Publishing the Scheduled BrightWall Presentation(s)
Local Storage
Once you have finished scheduling your BrightWall presentation(s), click the Publish button to bring up the Publish BrightWall window:
- Publish each screen in a subfolder of a parent folder: The project and media files for each screen will be published in separate subfolders of the specified parent folder. Use this option if you don’t want to publish to the SD cards of all the BrightWall players while in BrightAuthor. This option is also useful if you’d like the entire BrightWall presentation contained in a package that can be easily transported between directories, computers, etc.
- Publish each screen individually: You will be given a separate prompt for publishing the project files of each screen. Use this option if you want to immediately set up the SD cards for players in the video wall.
BrightSign Network
Select a BSN BrightWall Group using the dropdown menu under Select BrightWall Group to Schedule. The BrightWall configuration file assigned to the group determines which presentations are available in the BrightWall Presentations list: A BrightWall presentation will not appear in this list if it uses a different configuration file from the group.
If you haven’t created a BrightWall Group yet, navigate to the Manage > Status tab to create one. Once you’ve created a BrightWall Group, return to the Publish > BrightSign Network tab and click to refresh the dropdown list. See the Creating a BrightWall on the BrightSign Network page for a complete outline of the BSN BrightWall process.
Once you’ve selected a BrightWall Group, click Publish Schedule to assign the schedule to the BrightWall Group.
Local Network
Once you have finished scheduling your BrightWall presentation(s), click the Publish button to bring up the Publish BrightWall window:
- Select a networked player next to each Screen Name. Make sure the specified players correspond to the correct screen-location numbers in the video wall. The screen-location numbers are shown in the screen layout window of the BrightWall presentation.
- Click Refresh to refresh the dropdown lists of players currently active on the local network.
- Click Add to add new networked players to the dropdown lists of players on the local network.
- Once all of the target players have been specified, click Publish to publish the video wall.
Simple File Network
Once you have finished scheduling your BrightWall presentation(s), click the Publish button to bring up the Publish BrightWall window:
- Publish each screen in a subfolder of a parent folder: The project and media files for each screen will be published in separate subfolders of the specified parent folder. You will then need to upload the parent file to your file server and modify the URL of each networked player so that it points to the appropriate screen folder.
